We’re always on the lookout for interiors inspiration – which is why we’re pleased to announce the launch of 2022’s Real Homes Home & Garden Awards! Each year, we set out to find the very best transformations across the UK and showcase them across our magazine, website and social media. Oh, and did we mention there’s a big cash prize up for grabs?
With five categories to enter, if you’ve been busy creating your dream home, now’s your chance to show it off. We’re looking for amazing extensions, renovations (opens in new tab) and makeovers, done on savvy budgets but with no compromises on style. The winners of each category will receive a £1,000 cash prize and a year’s subscription to Real Homes magazine, plus their hard work will be immortalised in a professional shoot for this magazine.
Sound like something you’d be up for? Fill in the entry form below, or scroll down to read more about the categories and the prizes.
Enter the awards
Entering the awards is easy – simply fill out the form below and upload your pictures. Entries close at midnight on 30 June 2022. All category winners and shortlisted entries will be professionally photographed. You must be able and willing for your home to be photographed and appear in the magazine as well as online.
The prizes
First off, we’re offering each category winner a huge £1,000 to spend on whatever they wish – be it that piece of furniture you’ve been coveting for months, or a wine subscription to help you recover from the stress of your renovation. Hey – we’re not judging! In addition, each winner will receive a year’s subscription to Real Homes. Finally, all winning and shortlisted entries will be professionally photographed and featured in the pages of Real Homes magazine and online.

Meet last year's winners
Best home
We fell for Laura Magee’s late-Victorian Belfast home as soon as we spotted the pink and blue palette, and the story behind it is just as inspiring as the aesthetic. By restoring long-lost period features and combining them with modern touches, all on a shoestring budget, she created a space that’s classic, stylish and packed with ideas to steal.

Best garden
We were a bit obsessed with every bit of Jack Marshall’s London home – but the garden is the pièce de résistance. Zoned into relaxed seating and formal dining spaces, and with some incredible contemporary details (the paving!), it’s the perfect modern outdoor space for everything from summer dinner parties to chilly-weather marshmallow roasting.
Best kitchen
Can you blame us for picking Anatolia Elamradi’s bright and beautiful space as our 2021 kitchen winner? By working with an architect to realise her vision, designing the floorplan herself and sourcing items from local London-based and family-run businesses, she created the perfect family space that brightens the dullest of days.
Best bathroom
Emma Coulthurst transformed the family bathroom of her Derbyshire home on a budget of just £6,000, and the result is dreamy. Designed for functionality and decorated with blues, brass and a showstopping pink bathtub, we had to hand it to her: this is a pretty cool space.

Best room makeover
Kids’ rooms can be hard to get right, but Karen Clough’s creative vision helped her transform her eldest daughter’s bedroom in a week as a birthday surprise. The resulting sunny yellow space is a happy addition to her quirky Manchester home – and tbh, we’re still jealous it’s not our room.
