It pains me to admit that I'm not the most organized person in the world. I'm a Capricorn and I work in homes, so I should be in theory. My apartment would tell you otherwise. I've come to accept that half the blame for my disorganized rental is me. The other half is due to the limited space for storage and the lack of cute organizational products. There are some pretty gross tubs, bins, and baskets out there despite their budget-friendly price tags. Equally, you won't find me blowing hundreds on high-end drawers and trays (I'd rather use that cash on Uber Eats).
Rather than spend another 365 days rotating around the sun with a disorganized space, I've done my own research for products I'm adding to my cart (as we speak — yes this counts as work) that you might want to consider, too. I promise you're not going to find any ugly storage solutions here. Those can stay at your parents' house.
Having storage containers is great until you no longer need them and they awkwardly float around your apartment with no purpose. These pretty crates fold down, so you can stack them or slot them into a bookshelf when they're not in use. Ten points for the pastel baskets. Otherwise, they do make a very smart bedroom organizer as they'll slot underneath your bed frame with total ease.
I'm a big fan of using a woven storage basket as a laundry hamper. They hide things a lot better than their plastic cousins and look nicer sitting in your bedroom. Although I have a white one, it's looking pretty grimy and this more colorful alternative is calling my name.
I'm all for a nice piece of multifunctional furniture — especially when it looks good. This ottoman is three items in one, which is dreamy for any apartment or dorm. You can sit on it or kick your feet up, lift up the top to store things inside, and flip the lid around for a surface to set your latte and current read.
My partner has given me many a pleading look with how many times I've left a pile of my coats draped over our kitchen chairs. Sigh. So it's time to finally outfit our small entryway with stylish hooks. Enter these fun bendy waves that may finally convince me to put my things where they belong.
Where do you keep your extra bath towels? Because mine are currently at the top of my dresser and they look horrible. I love this basket because it's simple and cleans up the look of my bedroom. I'm not fancy enough to have a linen cupboard, so two or three of these are perfect for storing towels and sheets. Plus, it has a lid! So you can stack 'n' shove under the bed.
A cute wavy wall shelf is one thing, but one that extends is kind of an unmissable buy. It gives you more storage room and you can cater to the decor or objects you're plopping up there. I love all the colors these come in too — way better than plain old wood or white.
Zero interest in losing your security deposit? Same. No closet space? Join the club. An over-the-door rack solves both these probs and makes more storage space magically appear. Pick up your clothes, jackets, accessories, and towels off the floor and use this handy (and cute) set of hooks instead.
I'll be blunt: I'm sick of those clear acrylic trays. They get messy, don't always look amazing, and are SO loud when they get dropped. This is one exception. I recently swapped out my metal shower caddy for this exact tray. All my shower products look super clean and stylish now sitting on top of it, and I feel like an influencer (I'm not).
I may not have a walk-in pantry, but I have enough snacks for one. Rather than shoving them in a cupboard like I usually do, I'm opting for this helpful little organizer instead. I like that it's simple and corrals my five bags of chips and Cheez-It boxes. Grab a couple for all your food storage needs.
